Welcome to Phillips Lift Systems
Hello, my name is Barry Phillips and I started Phillips Lift Systems from day one. I can’t describe how excited I am to show the journey of Phillips Lift Systems from the beginning until the present. I have a very special reason for this story and as you can see I am passionate about my product. Phillips Lift Systems is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, manufacturer of a toilet lift product in the United States. Our first toilet lift was built in 1988 and after I was sure it was ready for personal use, I brought it to market in 1991. I learned and have improved this product over time. In October of 1996, I was awarded my first patent. Also, in May 2002 I was awarded my second patent. It is important to me that I meet my clients’ needs. With the help of my employees we make a very special product for very special people. My employees take pride in producing the Tush Push Toilet Lift made in the United States of America by employees living in the U.S.
Originally Phillips Lift Systems was established because of a personal experience that inspired me to design and develop our "Tush-Push" product. The idea of the powered toilet lift came into existence because of my grandmother who was in very bad health with terminal bone cancer. My grandmother would spend her winters in Florida and the rest of the year in Indiana. In 1988 I was told she had 6 months to live. It was Christmas and I knew she would not be able to go to Florida for the winter. My wife and I decided to take her on a 2-week trip to visit her friends in Florida and to say her good-byes. We stopped in Georgia for the night. The next morning we went to a Cracker Barrel restaurant; it was Grandma’s favorite place to eat. Grandma went to the restroom and was gone for a long period of time. A lady came to our table and told us, “Your grandmother is having trouble in the restroom. She needs help getting up from the toilet.” She did not have enough strength in her legs. It took three people to help her up. My thoughts were, “We can put a man on the moon, but we can’t get a person off the toilet.” So I decided to address this problem. I designed a user friendly-machine I now call the Tush Push Powered Toilet Lift.
Unfortunately I didn’t get my machine perfected before my grandmother passed away. However, she left me with a great idea that has helped many people and will continue to help many more.
